Junkyard Classics by Dale Klee - 1862
A large national auto parts store that specializes in
rare and hard-to-find parts for antique automobiles needed a
gift to mail to their customers who had placed an order
within the last six months.
Their promotional products distributor suggested using a
calendar, as they could include helpful company information
on a custom back mount and cover letter.
The manager of the parts store was receptive to the idea, as
they felt that some of their customers were not aware of the
full range of services the company offered. By including
this information on the calendar, they would be receiving
over 12 months of advertising exposure and a vehicle to
convey company information to their customers.
Upon a return visit by the distributor, they found that the
program had been a huge success. All 5,000 calendars that
had been ordered were sent out, and many customers who
ordered over the phone had mentioned the calendar gift. The
auto parts store also reported a 10% increase in the amount
of calls regarding some of the highly specialized services
they offered.
