Chances are you have received a promotional product that you really liked and found useful, though it is more likely that you have received more lame freebies than useful cool ones. When deciding on purchasing promo items for your business focus on the ones you have received that YOU liked, how did those make you feel about the person that gave them to you and more importantly how you feel about the company whose logo is printed on the promotional item?
Just slapping your logo on any old item is a waste of money without question, but the real damage is how you make the recipient feel when you give a cheesy give-a-way to them. If the recipient is a client that spends a significant amount of money with your company a Forty Cent Pen that writes like crap is not going to make them feel appreciated. That same Forty Cent Pen given away at a expo with business cards that you printed from your own printer (you know the ones they have the perforated edges) will send a message to everyone that walks away from your booth – why would I ever do business with a company that gives away such junk and has a terribly cheap business card.
Promotional Products are intended to serve as reminders of you and the services that you provide; they can be very powerful and effective elements of your overall marketing program – but you can’t go cheap and lame. You need to provide freebies that are consistent with your brand; that remind clients and contacts of the great product or service that you deliver. If the products are really unique, clients and contacts will share them with others and also talk about you and how good you are…unsolicited third party endorsements are gold.
Here are 9 of the Worst Promotional Products…do NOT put your logo on these EVER!
