You hear it over and over if you want to get noticed your marketing should make you “stand out from the crowd”. So how do you smack your target market right over the head and cut through all the marketing mayhem they are bombarded with every single day? So many marketers don’t aim at their target market – It’s much easier than the $64,000 dollar question. Just focus your efforts on these 6 marketing nuggets and your business will stand out.
Offer Solutions
If you focus on solving your customer’s problems your marketing will take very little effort. If there is a big enough demand (many have the pain you can solve) you simply have to mention the pain and use your outside voice to say I have a product or service that will solve your problem.
Do Aim At Your Target Market
Marketing budgets are often wasted by not targeting the right market. You might as well be flushing money down the potty. If you don’t know your target market (mouth wide open) than stop wasting money marketing until you figure it out. Let’s assume you do know your target market and know what interests them – that said, make sure your marketing message has Hot Buttons that trigger interest. If you sell dog bones DO NOT market to people that do not have a dog…pretty simple.
Use Strong Headlines
Headlines are so important in getting your target market to stop and take notice. They must be provocative but not offensive or confrontational, they should be totally unexpected and engaging. Just this morning I seen a great marketing headline show up in my Facebook feed, “If you are eating breakfast, you might want to come back to this story”. Yes, I was eating a bagel and Yes, I read it.
Have A Marketing Hook
Every great song has “A Hook” that gets stuck in your head all day once you have heard it. A Marketing Hook it similar and will make people take action on the spot if it’s good enough. Basically you are offering something to your target market in return for being able to contact them again or get them into your business by hooking them – giving you permission to communicate with them again and again.
Examples:
- Stop by today between 4 and 8 pm for a free slice of pizza.
- Download our free ebook on how to wax your car with our premium wax
- The first 50 callers get a dozen roses sent to anyone you choose for free.
These marketing hooks offer a significant value to their target market and will without question get results.
Size Matters…So Does Shape
Your marketing message should leverage unusual items, shapes and sizes that are not of the norm. If you want your marketing collateral to get attention you should create unique sizes and messages with a tone that is well outside the normal comfort marketing zone everyone is used to and ignores. Direct mail that is oddly shaped with bright colors and off the wall packaging that screams open me first is what you should send to your target market.
What’s In It For Me
This goes back to the vary import “Offer Solutions” marketing nugget. If you have done your research and you know your target market and you can offer up a direct answer to a prospective client’s question “What’s in it for Me?” with your marketing message you win, it’s just that easy.
