As a marketer on Facebook you should be reviewing the insight stats for your business page weekly at a bare minimum. If you do review the stats you have realized that the posts on your Facebook Business Page get seen by about 2% or less by the people that have liked your page. Like it or not is it the way it is, to me this is a huge opportunity to target your marketing to an audience you get to choose at a super low cost that no other advertising medium offers.
Facebook Marketing for just $20 a month, for just $5 a week you are able reach several hundred to several thousand prospective clients. Think about it reaching thousands of people for a $5 Facebook Boost – I don’t know about you but that excites me. The thing that should really excite you is that your competition is most likely not leveraging this avenue of advertising or if they are they are doing it all wrong. The catch is you have to have a Marketing Strategy behind your posts and the ones you boost for $5.
Here is an example of a $5 Boosted Post that was a huge success in my eyes. My strategy was 2 parts, get an audience I targeted to the Bizarre Marketing Blog to read my latest blog post and to expose the Bizarre Marketing Brand to people on Facebook that have not already liked my page. After posting a link to my latest blog post on the Bizarre Marketing Facebook Page I boosted the post targeting “Small Businesses” in the “United States” in the age range of “25-55” both “Men & Women”.
As you can see in the image below – the $5 Boost had a reach of 636 people in one day, which is $0.007 each – that’s right less than a penny each. There were 14 post click throughs to the blog post, which is $0.35 each. This boost met all my expectations by effectively raising awareness of my brand to 636 people and getting 14 people to click over and read my blog post. It all happened in one day for 5 bucks.
$5 Facebook Boost Strategy
You can’t just boost posts that are “Buy My Stuff” posts, you really need to have a solid Marketing Strategy behind each and every post and those that you choose to boost. Offering up some helpful information, tips or even funny posts will get you the most results.

Only boost posts that have a compelling image, never boost a text only post. People are scrolling through their Facebook feed pretty fast and you need an amazing image with a call to action or problem solving headline on the image. Don’t just grab a stock picture of one of your products and think that will get you the reach and clicks you are hoping for. 350 million pictures are uploaded to Facebook every single day – you must create an image that stands out or don’t bother boosting the post.
Laser Target Your Boost
When boosting a post Facebook gives you three targeting options 1. People who like your page, 2. People who like your page and their friends, 3. People you choose through targeting. The latter is what I used in the above ad and I feel is the most powerful of the three options. This option gives you real leverage – you could literally have just one Facebook page like and still laser target an audience of thousands, even millions if you wanted to.
Analyze The Boost Results
After you boost a post you have to review the results of the boost. Dig into the content, the audience, the image and call to action. Then test other boosts with the same content but with a new image or change the audience or change the call to action. For $20 you can narrow down a boosted post that gets the results you want – then you can increase that $5 to $50 and really take your business to another level.
If executed correctly social media marketing is a low cost way to grow your business, having a clear Marketing Strategy in place is the key.
