Instagram announced that it has 400 million monthly active users, stepping right over Twitter’s 300 million users. This puts Instagram in the number two slot as the seconded biggest social network. Instagram Marketing is now a must for every brand big and small. Over 80 million photos are uploaded to this Facebook owned platform every single day and most are then pushed over (shared) to Facebook and Twitter automatically by those that choose to share their images on other platforms too when uploading new pictures or videos.
Facebook now boasts a whopping 3.5 billion people are using at least one of their properties. Here is the breakdown as of today – Facebook: 1.5 billion users, WhatApp: 900 million users, Facebook Messenger: 700 million users and Instagram bringing up the rear with 400 million users.
Instagram is only five years old and has jumped from 300 million users in December of 2014 to 400 million in less than a year. More that 75 percent of the new 100 million users are living outside of the US with half those joining this past year living in Europe and Asia. Amazing pictures and videos are being uploaded from all corners of the globe.

A Clear Call To Action On Your Pictures
It takes more time and effort to put a call to action in the image but the results are far better and worth the time. In the example below we created a “Double Tap Your Favorite Coffee” image for National Coffee Day – the results were great – a Double Tap gets your Instagram image or video a like. While you can put the call to action in the caption, having the call to action right in the image is more powerful and defiantly the way to go. You can also ask people to “Tag” others in a comment – something like “Tag the person you want to have coffee with today” would have been a great way to get more exposure to your brand taking advantage of National Coffee Day. I hope you noticed the Bizarre Marketing logo in the picture…that is a huge must do.
Hashtags, Hashtags and more Hashtags
Using a relevant Hashtag will get your brand noticed by people who are not yet following your account. Hashtags are nothing new but work a bit different on Instagram, they help organize and categorize pictures and videos making it easy for others to find them. If you are using Hashtags that are relevant to your target audience you will gain likes, comments and followers without question. For example, if you have a pet supply company images and videos of Dogs and Cats using #Puppies, #Puppy, #DogsLife, #Kitty and #Catlover would be a great use of relevant Hashtags that will attract your audience.
Almost 50% of Fortune 100 companies are said to be using Instagram to market their brands, so you might want to take notice and start following these leaders. By creating well thought out images that are relevant and engaging to your audience you can gain exposure to your brand at a very low cost.
